Oil Painting/ Acrylic camp

Part 1                                                                                                                 Oil Painting and Acrylic camp is pretty good overall. but this time, there were  two kids, Dana and Darren, who were troublemakers when they were together. At class, Darren was talking a lot and complaining which annoyed Dana, who started talking. Then, we drew on our canvas. I drew still life. and it turned out to be good, according to my teacher. After that, we had lunch. Next Darren played tag with Dana and when Dana "tagged" him, she actually punched him on the shoulder. Darren got so mad that he picked up a strong yet tiny rock and aimed to hit it at her. I had nothing to do with this situation, so I just watched. That's when the trouble started. Dana hid behind me, using me as a shield from getting hit by Darren, and that's when Darren BAM! hit ME (not Dana) "ACCIDENTALLY"(according to him) with the rock. I was really mad, but I didn't get phsyical, but I did get emotional. He just THREW A ROCK AT ME between the eyes, not Dana! Everyone asked me if I was okay and punished Darren, who cried even more than me. I heard his sister say," Why were you throwing rocks? Even though if Dana punched you , you din't have to make it worse!"After the incident, everything was settled and I thought," At least he didn't hit me in the eyes!" but my teacher thought differently. He said, "就差一点就碰到眼睛里面除了!!!"

Don't worry, I'm doing fine. All I need is an ice pack and a person comforting me and I'm okay. It's just a rock!

Part 2
Oil Painting camp is very productive, and I learned a lot from this camp. I did wonderful works of art and ate lots of chicken from the delish KFC restaurant! Now I can draw really well and get used to the messy environment of the studio.

Petition to have a Later Starting Time at School (letter to my principal)

Dear principal,
Hello! I hope you are having a good time. I would like to change a rule if it is okay. The change is to have a later starting time at school.I have three reasons for why you should change this rule.Kids will get more sleep and have more time to do daily morning things like brushing teeth, changing, eating, and showering. Everybody would be one time so they can learn more.
With a later starting time, students can get more sleep, which means they can grow taller. Doctors think that when kids sleep, they will grow taller and have more strength. Kids will also be in a better mood at school because they are well-rested. Usually when an alarm clock or a parent wakes a child up when it's normal start time, the child will want to sleep more. But when that rule is changed, that won't happen anymore. That is why is kids have a later start time at school, kids will get more sleep.
My second reason is that there would be more time for everyone's morning routines such as brushing teeth and breakfast. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day because it is the first one. Some kids have lots of cavities because they don't bush their teeth twice a day since their in a rush for school! That is why the school should have a later starting time. These days, because of early school, kids will most likely have to rush in the morning and learning time will be missed.
My last reason why there should be later start time is because everybody could be on time so the students could learn Everyone knows that school makes a child learn, and learning is great! The students will pay more attention and learn well because they are awake which leads to better grades and participation in class.
All in all, these are the reasons I want to have late start time in school. Thank you for taking time to read this letter. Usually principals are really busy!
                                                                                                         Your student,

My Ideal World: Enviroworld!

When you rocket up to the moon and peer into the Milky Way, you will find a mediumed-sized speck of 'land.' When you look closer, you will see a world shaped like a HUMONGOUS leaf! If you want to know more about this world, come along with me.

This world is called Enviroworld. This world is always awesome to the environment and is one half of Earth. The 'boss's are me and the person who drives the solar car best. Here is a little tour.

The only rules:
1.No pollution and NO gasoline cars.
2.Use ONLY solar powered devices and electricity.
                     3.Be Green.
                     4. Always conserve water. The maximum for taking baths is 5 times a month.Showers are unlimited, but you have to take it no longer that 5 minutes.
                    5. Plant at least one tree.
                   6. No cutting down trees            7.Have at least one solar panel.
If you break any of these rules, you will have a place called Envirison to get mashed into a gigantic pile of huge, artificial leaves for 10 days at least.

Here are the politics. The governor of Envary(the main continent of this world)is the person that treats my ideal world best and the living thing who plants the most trees.Kids in this world will go to school with a recess as long as thirty minutes, a lunch recess as long as 50 minutes, later start time, less homework, funner, and learning about the environment for an hour a day. When a new person goes into my ideal world, kids will get whatever they want(one thing), and the adults will get a solar car for 45% off. Everybody has to eat things that they grow(required)and three pieces of candy (maximum and optional). When war strikes, the army of the tree trunks will come save this world! The wonderful weather of my ideal world is 1/4 rainy and 3/4 sunny. People have to live in tall houses with only solar-powered things and at least one solar panel each house. When people in Enviroworld are far from one another, how do they communicate? Well, they communicate by using solar and air powered walkie talkies! When you need to charge it with solar power, all you do is press a button and a solar panel will pop up. It costs only $1.99 when you buy it on sale.

In conclusion, Enviroworld is better than our world because the environment and climate will be better, and kids will enjoy candy without being tortured by their parents! People will also like planting and communicating in cute, electricity saving walkie talkies! I hope you like my tour of my ideal world, Enviroworld!

Quotes, Quotes, Quotes !!!

These are some amazing quotes by amazing people and I'm going to explain them and comment to them. {Some of these don't have who the quote is by}

1.      "  You can't sit and wait for the opportunities to come to you; you have to get up and make them. "
I really like that one. An example for that quote is: When you are playing soccer you can't just sit there. The goal won't come to you; you have to get up and make the goal.
The goal is your oppurtunity, you have to score the goal.NO oppurtunity could automatically come to you. YOU have to get up and make the oppurtunity(the difference).

2.     "Cold rice and cold tea are bearable, but cold words and cold looks are not."

Yes, I agree. Of course, cold rice and cold tea are unpleasant, but you can at least bear them. However, when somebody gives you a mean, disgusted, angry look or rolls his or her eyes, that can hurt somebody's feelings greatly. When somebody talks or shouts words like 'dumb, immature, weird, etc. then that also will make someone feel dumb. Both of them are not bearable. Cold rice and cold tea would be better.

3.     "Two wrongs do not make a right."

At first, I didn't get that one. When my teacher talked about it, I knew what it meant. Let's say someone punches you (that is a 'wrong') and you punch him back (that's another 'wrong'), that does not make things better(right). A person at my class said, "That quote means,'If you get a math problem wrong, and you get another one wrong,  the problem is still wrong unless you make it right.'"
I thought the explanation was correct, but the teacher said it wasn't.

4.      ''The price of your hat isn't the measure of your brain."

You can buy a hat, but you can't buy knowledge. That was what a person in my classs said. Another explanation is: If you have a very high quality hat, it does'nt have to mean you are smart.

5.        "Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass, it is about dancing in the rain."

If you always 'wait for the storm to pass,' then you are being pessimistic. Don't just sit around the house being idle. Instead, 'dance in the rain'! Be optimistic! If it rains, don't let water stop you. learn to appreciate the things that you have, and have fun.

The last quote is my favorite one! 'Save the best for last!' ---maya

Holes Book Report

This 233-page fiction is a 1999 John Newbery Medal winner, which is published by Dell Yearling in March 2003. It's by Louis Sachar, and was made into a  movie!! Can you guess what this book is? If you guessed Holes by Louis Sachar, you're correct!!

The main character in this story is Stanley Yelnats. He was arrested and given a choice, jail or  Camp Green Lake. He started out as a bad boy, but at the end of this book, I like him.

This story took place in Camp Green Lake, which was a clean and big lake 100 years ago. Now it is just a large, dry and flat wasteland. There is no lake at Camp Green Lake, but there are an awful lot of holes. There is only one rule in this camp:Don't upset the Warden. The Warden is a tall women with red hair, whose job is to make sure the boys behave and get the work done.

Stanley has been unjustly sent to a camp for bad boys;Camp Green Lake where boys build character by digging holes exactly five feet wide and five feet deep. But Stanley realizes that he's not digging just for good character. The boys are doing it because the Warden is looking for something. Stanley tries to 'dig up the truth' in this exciting and must-read story.

At camp, Stanley meets a few boys, and they dig holes together.  They help each other and found a golden tube. When they show it to the Warden, she likes it and rewards the founder with a double shower and clean clothes. Stanley and his friends start out to look for treasure, and even both of them are aching, they stay best friends. When they finally find it,the Warden thanks them for being good helpers.

At the end of the book, Camp Green Lake is closed and later become a Girl Scout Camp.Stanley and his friend get a million dollars reward.

These are some of the comments for Holes:
''A smart jigsaw puzzle of a novel.''  --The New York Times Book Review
 ''[A]rugged,engrossing adventure.''   --School Library Journal
 ''Larger-than-life.''  --Publishers Weekly
''Imaginative plotting and memorable characters make this novel a winner.  --Book
''All readers should read this must-read book. ''  --Maya Zhan ^_^

I would recommend this to readers who enjoy reading adventure.
